To restore the super to Heroes, the show is going -- but of course -- to Smallville!
Sources confirm to me exclusively that the struggling NBC drama has tapped John Glover, a.k.a. Lex Luthor's dad, Lionel, to play Sylar's father.
"When Sylar meets his father, he's going to see a path ahead of him that he doesn't want to take," reveals a Heroes insider. "He has a lot more in common with his father than he realized."
The Tony award winner, who recently booked an arc on Brothers & Sisters as a love interest for Ron Rifkin's Saul, will turn up towards the end of Heroes' forthcoming "Fugitives" chapter.

Exclusive: Bryan Fuller's Rx for 'Heroes'
AUSIELLO: Where did Heroes go wrong, in your opinion?
BRYAN FULLER: It became too dense and fell into certain sci-fi trappings. For instance, in the “Villains” arc, when you talk about formulas and catalysts, it takes the face off the drama. And I think the goal for everybody is to put a face back on the drama. You have to save something with a face; otherwise you don’t understand what you’re caring about. I thought the "Villains" arc started out very interestingly, and then became sort of muddy and dense and I couldn't get my hooks into the characters to understand their motivations. I also started to feel confused about what people's abilities were. One of the great things about the first season is that the metaphor for their abilities was very clear. Those metaphors seem to have gotten complicated in the past two seasons. I share that concern with everybody on the writing staff. It's not like I'm coming in and saying, "This is what you need to do to fix it!" Everybody knows what needs to be fixed and everybody is sort of rowing in that direction.
Your work starts with episode 19, yes?
Yes. I'm fortunate to be coming into a very exciting story line. [Former co-exec producers] Jeph [Loeb] and Jesse [Alexander], before they left the show, set so many great events in motion with the "Fugitives" arc [kicking off Feb. 2]. It really is a fresh start. All of the characters are back in their real lives. You see Peter as a paramedic. Claire is looking for colleges. We get away from the world of formulas and quasi-magic.
Are the "Fugitives" episodes leading up to 19 solid?
Yes. Episodes 14, 15 and 16 are amazing. The whole "Fugitives" arc starts out very strongly, and then it gets a little dense in the middle in terms of the mythology. So I came in right at the point where everybody was realizing, "Oh, we're getting too dense here and we need to put faces on stories because there is no face to a formula; there is no face to saving the world." So it's turning this big ship back into a character stream, and everyone on the writing staff shares that desire. We need to get back into a character place, because that's where this story started: Very clean, superhero metaphors to everyday life. That's the path that we're taking. But it is a big ship so it's going to take a little while to turn it.
Any plans to trim the sprawling cast?
People will die. And some will return. Matt’s wife [Janice] comes back. We’ll find out what happens when you have a superbaby. We're also going to tell fewer stories per episode. We're going to limit it to three or four with one big one that you can wrap the stories around. We're altering the structure of the show so that there's a very clear A story that takes up a larger percentage of the show so that that story gets traction.
Are you looking at Season 4 as a complete reboot of the series?
It's not necessarily a reboot as much as it is going back to the basic spirit of the show and pulling people back in. I don't think the issues with the show have been about the serialization as much as about the density of the stories that have been serialized.
Will you be part of the show next season?
That's the idea.
Will the recent behind-the-scenes changes at NBC impact the show at all?
It's really hard to imagine Heroes without [Universal Media Studios president] Katherine Pope, because she has been such a proponent of the show. She was so instrumental in [setting] the tone and style of the show in the first season. She is as vital a piece as any of the players on the show at this moment. Her contribution can't be undervalued. It'll be very interesting to see how things shake out.
What's your working relationship with series creator Tim Kring been like since returning?
It's actually been very positive.
Who gets final say: you or Tim?
Tim. I’m a consultant. My job is to help facilitate the vision of the show, and the vision has been a little inconsistent. But “Fugitives” is such a great sea change. I think people who have been critical of Heroes will come back.

Milo Ventimiglia and Top Cow announce "Berserker" Comic
Another day, another project originally intended for television or film being field-tested in the comics world. Case in point: today's announcement that Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia (who already has another project, Rest, in production at Devil's Due Publishing) and Russ Cundiff of DiVide Pictures will be partnering with Top Cow Productions on Berserker, a new comic book series created by screenwriter Rick Loverd.

Heroesphil thon 092008 post-mortem
It's 1:30pm and the thonners have just left Primatech, Kamuning. It was a fun and filling thon, as far as I am concerned. A good number of people were present to watch the bonus materials on the Heroes DVDs and to chat and drink.
Activities of the night:
Let me start with the list of Heroes Plurkers (click on the link to visit our individual plurk sites) who were there:
We were all heavy with food and drink! What you see in the photo at the right is what was left of the food at around 2am.
Just to be OC about it, first, here is the food list:
Baguio products courtesy of Icheb.
Cupcakes courtesy of Mark Poa.
The garlic-basil bread was all courtesy of Shey. She slaved over it before the party.
The lasagna was a team effort by Jon, Shey, and me. Jon helped with the slicing and Shey helped with the layering.
Cash contributions by everyone.
Second, here is the drink
list:
There were lots of interesting segments in the bonus materials. My personal favorite was the mockumentaries about Takezo Kensei, which was located in Disk 2 of the set. The mockumentary was provided by mock organization, the Yamagato Fellowship.
After watching all the bonus materials of all 4 disks twice and commentaries of the last 2 episodes, we ended the evening by watching Dr. Horrible. Turns out some of us (specifically, Icheb) haven't seen it yet. If I may say ... Neil Patrick Harris rocks!
It couldn't be avoided, those of us who've seen it (aka everyone else) just had to sing-along ... and speak along ... with almost all the lines and songs.
We more or less turned in at around 3:30am and woke up at 9am. Breakfast was simple --- longganisa (imported from Davao kaya masarap, hehehe) fried eggs, rice,
, and tea.
It was a good 20 hours. I give it

I would have given it

if the others were able to make it but illness and fatigue prevented them. To those who weren't able to make it ... we missed you and wished you'd been here with us. See you all online! Until next time!
Activities of the night:
- Heroes bonus materials thon
- chatting with each other
- eating and drinking
- plurking!
- Beej
- Erika (my daughter) - not in the picture as she spent most of her time in her room doing her homework but would surface to see what was going on
- Hec
- Icheb
- Jean-Luc (Gigi's son) - not in the picture as he kept going up and down the stairs for no reason *shrugs*
- Jon and son (Darren) - not in the picture as they left before it occured to any of us to take photos. *toingk*
- Jovan
- Joy (Heroesphil newbie)
- Mark Poa
- Penny
- Shey
- Tasha (Gigi's daughter) - not in the picture and spent most of her time on the computer playing Wonderland online
- Tina - not in the picture 'cause the hubby already picked her up
Just to be OC about it, first, here is the food list:
- 2 trays of lasagna and garlic-basil bread
- 1 square Greenwich pizza
- 2 round containers of choco flakes (white and milk)
- 1 bottle ube halaya
- 2 round containers of lengua de gato (regular and ube)
- 1 tray of chocolate crinkles
- 1 bottle of peanuts
- 1 bottle of cherries
- assorted chips
- assorted cupcakes

- 4 2-liter bottles of soda
- 2 bottles of vodka (Toska and Absolut Kurrant) - the Absolut was courtesy of Jon
- 2 bottles of brandy
- 1 bottle of rhum
- 1 bottle Mudslide (courtesy of Erika)
- a few bottle of Superdry (courtesy of Beej)
- water
- vodka jelly shots - raspberry flavored
- faux Trublood - this (see photo at the right) was actually the vodka raspberry jelly shots that did not set and so we opted to drink it instead.

Season 2 on DVD in UK
Heroes Season 2 is being released in the UK a month earlier than in the States in a 4-disk box set. Amazon.co.uk is already taking pre-orders for the release, which will be comprised of all 11 episodes in the strike-shortened season. The expected ship date is July 28, 2008, a month earlier than the August 26, 2008 that the DVD is scheduled to ship in the States.
NOTE: A bit of warning for those living in the States who are considering buying the UK release. The DVD box set will be formatted in the PAL format (Region 2), so make sure your DVD player can play PAL (and not just NTSC, Region 1, as is the US format).
Heroes Season 3 begins airing in September 22, 2008.

THE NEW WORLDS SURVEYS
If New Worlds wants to bring news to you, New Worlds needs to know what YOU like! Answer the weekly survey questions and we'll feature YOU on the website! We'll even give away some prizes, how's that? :)
This week's question: "If you could ride any mode of transport from any science fiction or fantasy book or movie or show, which would you choose and why?"
Rej chose the TARDIS from "Doctor Who": "I like the TARDIS. It's so deceptive--it looks so small and ordinary on the outside, and it seems clunky and old inside, but it's a magnificent ship and I'd love to travel in time and space in it."
Meann chose the Naboo Royal Starship from "Star Wars": "If I have to travel long distances in space, then I choose to fly in Queen Amidala's Naboo Royal Starship. It's like travelling in Business Class. And if you're worried about surviving a quick escape from Trade Federation blockades, all I have to say is: R2-D2."
What would YOU choose? E-mail your answers (Subject: New Worlds Surveys - Week 1) to: rej (at) fandomcafe.com AND meann (at) fandomcafe.com
The five best answers will be featured on NewWorlds.ph and will win official Speed Racer stickers!
Deadline of submission of entries: Monday, 2 June 2008.

NBC Universal brings Heroes to Blu-ray August 26
Heroes fans can get their full HD fix August 26, when the DVD boxed set of season two is released on DVD, it'll also hit Blu-ray and bring along season one for the ride. No word on price or what extras are in store (or if 1080p will somehow make the whole twins subplot less meaningless, just a thought), although the S1 set on HD DVD last year included HDi internet connectivity, and we don't expect anything less from BD-Live. Universal is going day and date with its movies starting with Doomsday, while NBCU's first dual-format feature film should hit shelves ahead of the holidays.

3 other websites said its unofficial and that NBC hasn't confirmed or denied the rumor. These 3 websites point to the same source: http://spoilertv- heroes.blogspot. com/
The latter claims the episodes are indeed confirmed. So hang in there guys, we'll know the truth real soon (I hope). Here they are:
Episode 3×01: “The Butterfly Effect” / Sept. 15, 2008
Written By: Tim Kring
Directed By: Allan Arkush
Episode 3×02: “Dreamtime” / Sept. 2008
Written By: Tim Kring
Directed By: Greg Beeman
Episode 3×03: “One of Us, One of Them” / Sept. 2008
Written By: Joe Pokaski
Directed By: Sergio Mimica-Gezzan
Episode 3×04: “The Year of Our Lord” / Fall 2008

Besides graphic novels, you may see this site, for other info's and links about Heroes.

You'll find out that there are a lot of other abilities.
Including those that mentioned in heroes' other sites(i cant remember how they called it, what i mean is the sites that are actually part of the TV show, like, claire bennet's myspace, hana gitelman's blogspace, and a site where chandra suresh and a certain lawyer exchange messages about her [the lawyer] unexplained experiences)
BY THE WAY!
I like the ability of the Haitian's Father, bliss & horror!!! Its so manipulative!!

Details on Heroes: Villains Spoilers ahead
After three months, the writer's strike is finally over.
This means most of the shows that we've been waiting for will air in a few months or so...
Yey! Sad to say, Heroes season three will air on September 8, 2008... in America... Filipino fans would have to wait a little longer before it airs on Crime and Suspense.
Spoilers:
-Adam Monroe/Takezeo Kensei comes back, this time, his name is Richard Sanders, which means he is related to Nikki
-Nathan Petrelli and Nikki Sanders are saved!
-There’s also a scene in which most of the major Heroes are all dead. Described by Noah Bennet like “12 Sylars running free,” the shots shows Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) as a corpse in a pool of blood, Hiro (Masi Oka) been pinned to the wall with his own sword and Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) with his throat torn open.
-Knox, new villain seems to have preternatural speed–and used that to rip a cop’s heart out of his chest.
